For Upwork freelancers Numbers, not a pitch.
Upwork charges you to bid. Then it takes a cut when you win.
Every proposal costs Connects at $0.15 each, spent whether or not you get the job, and the service fee runs from 0% to 15% per contract. On Brindl, sending a price on a Board job is free, and the cut is 10% plus $0.30.
Your numbers, not ours.
Type what you actually charge. Both statements recalculate as you go, and nothing you type leaves this page.
Each Connect is $0.15 and a proposal takes several, spent whether or not you are hired. Only you know what it takes to land one job.

The honest part
Upwork is the better choice for long contracts and hourly work. Its time tracking, milestone escrow and contract paperwork are built for engagements that run for months, and Brindl has none of that: a job here is a quote, an agreement and a payment. For a retainer or an hourly role with a client you have not worked with before, Upwork's structure is protecting you, and the fee is what that costs. Switching outright would be bad advice. What makes sense is cross-listing: offer the same service in both places and keep more of it when it sells here. Listing costs nothing, so a listing that does not sell has not cost you anything either.
Ready when you are
